Authentication

Guidelines

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Consular Sections of are mandated to authenticate documents. These documents generally fall under three main categories: commercial, academic and immigration documents.

Documents issued by foreign governments or entities must first be authenticated by competent authorities in the country where the document was issued, if they are to be recognized and declared authentic and valid in South Sudan.

Similarly, all documents issued in South Sudan, which fall under these three categories, must first be authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of South Sudan.

Procedures

  • Submit a copy of every page and attachments for authentication (all documents to be used in the Republic of South Sudan must be endorsed by South Sudanese embassies abroad).
  • Provide secure self-addressed envelope with return address clearly written on it.
  • If authenticating a certified copy, show the original certificate to compare between the two certificates, and the original will be returned to the owner together with the certified copy.
  • The above authentication requirements or procedures apply mainly to immigration related documents such as Birth Certificates, Marriage Certificates or Divorce Certificates.
