The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Consular Sections of are mandated to authenticate documents. These documents generally fall under three main categories: commercial, academic and immigration documents.
Documents issued by foreign governments or entities must first be authenticated by competent authorities in the country where the document was issued, if they are to be recognized and declared authentic and valid in South Sudan.
Similarly, all documents issued in South Sudan, which fall under these three categories, must first be authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of South Sudan.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation was founded on July 12, 2011, just three days after South Sudan became an independent nation on July 9, 2011.
