President Kiir in Ethiopia for bilateral talks

07 Aug 2023, Juba, SOUTH SUDAN – President Salva Kiir left Juba for Addis Ababa on Monday for a brief visit to neighbouring Ethiopia, which officials said would focus on strengthening bilateral ties between Juba and Addis Ababa.

In Addis Ababa, President Kiir and members of his delegation, are expected to hold talks with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and other senior Ethiopian government officials.

Minister in the Ministry of Presidential Affairs, Hon. Dr. Barnaba Marial Benjamin, told reporters that talks between President Kiir and Prime Minister Ahmed would include discussions on diplomatic relations, economic cooperation and infrastructure development.

The President and his delegation were seen off at Juba International Airport by First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar and a number of senior government officials.
