Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Engages with the U.S. Ambassador to South Sudan

Juba, 30 January 2025 (MFA&IC) — The Honorable Ramadan Abdallah Goc, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, held a constructive dialogue with His Excellency Michael J. Adler, the U.S. Ambassador to South Sudan. Their discussion covered several important topics, notably the deportation of South Sudanese nationals from the United States of America, as well as various bilateral matters.

During the meeting, Ambassador Adler expressed his condolences to the families affected by plane crash in Bentiu that occurred on 29 January 2025. He requested that the government of South Sudan facilitate the timely removal of the South Sudanese nationals planned for deportation.

In response, Minister Goc conveyed his sincere condolences to Ambassador Adler and the American people following the tragic plane crash that took place in Washington on the same day. The Minister assured Ambassador Adler of South Sudan’s commitment to cooperating in this process, highlighting the importance of collaboration between the U.S. Embassy and the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. He acknowledged the United States’ sovereign right to carry out deportations and affirmed that South Sudan would respect this process.

Minister Goc reiterated South Sudan’s dedication to strengthening its relationship with the United States, aligning with their mutual aspirations for peace and development. In turn, Ambassador Adler reaffirmed the United States’ intention to work closely with South Sudan on issues of national significance.

Both parties emphasized the importance of maintaining open lines of communication and coordination as they strive to enhance bilateral relations.
