Juba, 27th January 2025 (MFA&IC) — The Honorable Ramadan Mohammed Abdallah Goc, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, has returned to South Sudan following his participation in the UN Security Council Open Debate on “African-Led and Development-Focused Counter-Terrorism” in New York.

During the debate, Minister Goc highlighted the need to lift arms embargoes and targeted sanctions to strengthen Africa’s counter-terrorism efforts, explicitly advocating for removing these measures on South Sudan. Additionally, he informed attendees about the brutal killings of South Sudanese individuals in Wad Madani, urging the United Nations Security Council and the global community to call for an investigation into these incidents.

While in New York, he held productive meetings with international counterparts regarding lifting the arms embargo and enhancing bilateral cooperation.

Following this, Minister Goc joined a high-level delegation to Egypt to promote normalizing relations between the two countries. This delegation, led by H.E. Tut Galuak Manime, the Special Envoy to the Middle East, included the Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation and other distinguished officials.
