Our Mandate
Functions and Duties:
Supervise the foreign representation of the Republic of South Sudan and to coordinate its foreign relations;
Develop and enhance the political, economic and social cooperation between the Republic of South Sudan and all countries of the world with the aim of establishing international system that will achieve justice and development;
Work towards improving cooperation with the international and regional cooperation in coordination with other ministries;
Develop and implement the foreign relations policies, strategies and plans with the aim of ensuring consistency and congruence between the foreign and internal policies of the state;
Accredit and strengthen regional cooperation and integration;
Organize coordinated communication between other organs of the state and the diplomatic foreign missions;
Mobilize and coordinate foreign donations and resources from countries and international and regional organizations;
Supervise the efforts of state to join different international and regional organizations;
Ensure the presence of South Sudanese experts in the international and regional organizations;
Advise the Government on diplomatic issues;
Open and manage diplomatic foreign missions;
Undertake, in collaboration with the National Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning and other ministries and commissions, negotiations with foreign governments and international agencies for financing agreements with donor organizations;
In coordination with relevant implementing government authorities, follow up agreements made between the Government and foreign governments and agencies;
Establish and maintain a system for regular liaison meetings and reporting with foreign missions accredited to South Sudan, UN Agencies, foreign government agencies and international non-governmental organizations; and
Any other function referred to it by the National Council of Ministers.
