Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Hon. Deng Dau Deng has urged South Sudanese students in Malaysia to work had and achieve good results, if they expect to live the dream of an independent South Sudan.
This came in a virtual interaction Hon. Deng had with the South Sudanese Students’ Association and Community members in Malaysia, as the country celebrated Independence Day on 09 July.
“I am grateful and honoured to address you virtually today, the students who have embarked on a remarkable journey of education in Malaysia. It is a pleasure to witness your dedication to self-improvement and your relentless pursuit of knowledge, despite the challenges you face. I commend each one of you for your commitment and resilience”, the acting minister told them.
The meeting represented a series of events the South Sudanese Diaspora organized to mark the country’s 12th independence anniversary.
In the Ugandan capital Kampala, the South Sudanese embassy organized a cultural gala to commemorate Independence Day, which showcased performances from a cornucopia of the country’s diverse ethnic groups.
Hillary Onek, Uganda’s Minister of Disaster and Preparedness, represented his government at the event that was also attended by, amongst others, members of the diplomatic corps. The South Sudanese embassy in Tel Aviv organized a similar event under the theme: “Peace, reconciliation, healing, unity, development, and prosperity for all”.
