Antalya, Türkiye, 1 March 2024 (MFA&IC) – During the first day of the Antalya Diplomatic Forum 2024, Hon. Amb. Hon. Dr James Pitia Morgan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, participated in a panel discussion focused on empowering the least developed countries.
Minister Morgan specifically called for assistance in lifting the sanctions imposed on South Sudan, stating that they hinder the country’s progress.
In his address, Minister Morgan emphasized the importance of the United Nations (UN) working for its member states and acting as their voice.
The Minister urged the UN to play an active role in advocating for the removal of sanctions that impede South Sudan’s development.
The Antalya Diplomatic Forum, which commenced today and will continue until March 3, 2024, has brought together heads of state, government officials, diplomats, business leaders, academics, think-tankers, and representatives from youth and media.
Under the theme “Advancing Diplomacy in Times of Turmoil,” the forum aims to facilitate comprehensive discussions and explore peaceful solutions to the global challenges the world is currently facing.
Hon. Morgan is attending the forum accompanied by South Sudan’s Ambassador to Türkiye, H.E. Ambassador Majok Guandong, and the Director for European Affairs, Ambassador Morris Batali.
