20 Sept, Juba, SOUTH SUDAN – The newly-appointed Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Ramadan Mohammed Abdallah Goc, held a meeting on Wednesday with the Turkish Ambassador to South Sudan H.E. Erdem Mutaf, which focused to strengthening bilateral ties between Juba and Ankara.
This was H.E. Mutaf’s first meeting with the Deputy Minister since he was sworn into office on 11 September 2023.
The Ambassador said that this was a courtesy visit, but also an opportunity to discuss with the Deputy Minister boosting relations with South Sudan in various fields.
The Head of Mission of the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in South Sudan congratulated Hon. Goc on his new assignment and expressed hoped that this would further help promote bilateral cooperation.
The Deputy Minister hailed Türkiye for its support to the people of South Sudan, particularly in the areas of education, health, humanitarian assistance and implementation of the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan.
Hon. Goc’s meeting with the Turkish Ambassador came just a day after a similar visit by the Deputy Head of Mission of Japan in South Sudan Wanatable Tomoko.
The Deputy Minister expressed gratitude to the people of Japan for their relentless support to the people of South Sudan, citing a number of giant and strategic infrastructure projects that Japan has been executing in South Sudan through the Japanese Agency for International Cooperation (JICA).
For her part, Ambassador reiterated her country’s strong ties with South Sudan, saying, Japan was also in the process of organizing a “high-level exchange visits between the two friendly countries in the nearest future.”
Earlier on 19 September 2023, Deputy Minister Hon. Goc also received a delegation from the Muslim community led by Secretary General of South Sudan Islamic Council, Sheikh Abdallah Baraj.
The delegation congratulated Hon. Abdallah Goc on his new assignment and wished him well.
