Juba, 26 January 2024 (MFA&IC) – Hon. Ramadan M. Abdallah Goc, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, received Annalena Baerbock, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany, during her visit to South Sudan. Minister Baerbock’s visit aims to enhance bilateral relations and strengthen cooperation between the two nations.
During her time in South Sudan, Minister Baerbock will meet the leadership as well as visit the refugee camp, where she will personally witness the situation of Sudanese refugees who have sought shelter in South Sudan due to the ongoing conflict in Sudan.
Hon. Ramadan expressed his appreciation for Germany’s support and reaffirmed South Sudan’s commitment to close collaboration with Germany to further strengthen and expand the bilateral ties between South Sudan and Germany.
South Sudan and Germany have maintained a strong bilateral relationship since the independence of South Sudan.
Germany has actively engaged in various development projects within the country, particularly in the fields of healthcare and vocational training centers. Notably, Germany’s assistance in establishing a technical institute in Wau and other support through the GIZ organisation has made significant contributions.
