Juba, February 6, 2025 (MFA&IC) – The Honorable Monday Semaya Kumba, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, recently held a productive discussion with Ms. Florence Gillette, the Head of Delegation for the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
The discussions focused on strengthening the existing partnership between the two organizations. Participants explored various initiatives, including the possibility of joint workshops on International Humanitarian Law, sharing best practices, and effectively ratifying and implementing relevant treaties.
Deputy Minister Kumba emphasized his commitment to improving coordination between the government and the ICRC, particularly as the Government of South Sudan the voluntary return of South Sudanese citizens from Sudan.
He also expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the vital humanitarian assistance that the ICRC provides to both South Sudanese and Sudanese refugees in border areas, acknowledging the organization’s significant role in alleviating the challenges faced by affected populations.
