DESCRIPTION:Juba\, 27 February 2024 (MFA&IC) The Head of the Mission of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia\, H.E. Ambassador Nebil Mahdi\, visited Hon. Amb. Dr. James Pitia Morgan\, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation\, to enhance the ties between Juba and Addis Ababa. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe discussion covered various topics\, including the recent AU summit\, where H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit actively participated. One significant point of focus was the operations of Ethiopian Airlines in South Sudan\, which serves as a crucial transportation link between the country and the rest of the world.\n\n\n\n\n\nAdditionally\, Ambassador Nebil and Minister Morgan deliberated on regional peace\, particularly the situation between Ethiopia and Somalia. The Minister referred to a recent sideline meeting between President Kiir and the Ethiopian Prime Minister during the AU summit.\n\n\n\nIn response\, Minister Morgan emphasized President Kiir’s role as the Chairperson of the East African Community (EAC) and his advocacy for a win-win solution. He also expressed the intention of the H.E. President to engage with the President of Somalia through the EAC mandate.\n\n\n\nMinister Morgan stressed the need for a peaceful approach to address the ongoing issue\, highlighting the responsibility of neighboring countries to facilitate an amicable solution.\n\n\n\nOn the same note\, Minister Morgan had a meeting with the Norwegian Head of Mission to South Sudan\, Ambassador Linken Nymann Berryman\, to discuss the issues related to bilateral relations between the two countries.

DESCRIPTION:Ministry of Foreign Affairs launches official website and Diplomatic Journal\n\n\nJuba\, South Sudan 17 July\, 2023 (MFA&IC) As part of celebrating its establishment following South Sudan’s independence in 2011\, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation unveiled its official website and diplomatic journal on Monday\, according to the Honourable Deng Dau Deng\, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs.\n\n\nDr. Barnaba Marial Benjamin\, Minister of Presidential Affairs and guest of honour\, as well as officials from various government institutions\, diplomatic missions\, and United Nations Agencies\, inaugurated the launch at the Pyramid Hotel.\n\n\nDr. Marial acknowledged the diplomatic Mission for attending the occasion commemorating the ministry’s 12th anniversary\, as well as congratulating the Ministry on its website and diplomatic journal.\n\n\n\n\n\n“Your website is very important strategically for this country\, and will be passing on information. It will help our friends; it will help our partners how to come and help”\, He said. He stressed the need for the ministry to consider the issue of diversity.\n\n\nHon. Deng began by thanking previous Ministers for their contributions to the Ministry’s creation. Both the Website and the diplomatic journal\, he says\, will be critical in boosting South Sudan’s diplomatic efforts and encouraging transparency.\n\n\n“This day was dedicated to the establishment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation\, which was on 12th July\, 2011”\, Hon. Deng said.\n\n\nHe also stated that the website will serve as a virtual portal\, containing a variety of information regarding South Sudan’s foreign policies\, diplomatic activities\, investment prospects\, and international cooperation efforts.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nE-government ICT policy aims to provide services.\nDeputy Minister of Information\, Communication Technology\, and Postal Services Jacob Mayaiju Baba Korok congratulated the ministry\, saying the government realised the importance of digital technology in the country’s development.\n\n\n“That is why the ICT policy of the e-government was considered as a tool to deliver services and information to its citizens and the international community at large”\, he said.\n\n\nHon. Mayen Dut Wol\, the Ministry’s Undersecretary\, started by saying that the primary goals of this website are to strengthen engagement with foreign counterparts\, diplomatic missions accredited to South Sudan\, NGOs\, and UN agencies operating in South Sudan and beyond.\n\n\n\n\n\nSouth Sudan\, as a new state\, needs to communicate with the rest of the world\, according to UNDP Country Coordinator Dr. Samuel Doe. Furthermore\, having a functioning website allows the rest of the world to interact with South Sudan.\n\n\n“We have already seen South Sudan’s leadership demonstrating excellence when it comes to regional peace\, thanks to his excellency\, the President of this Republic\,” UNDP representative added.
